Dublin Kayak Club was established in 2024 by a group of like-minded friends all from different corners of Dublin.

Our Disciplines include Freestyle Kayaking, Sea/Touring Kayaking, Whitewater kayaking. With these combined disciplines, our members can participate in a wide variety of different trips excursions and adventures all over Ireland, paddling with experienced and like minded peers.

Where we paddle

Leixlip to Strawberry Beds.

The main training run. Roughly 12km of moving water with multiple weirs, play features, and the CI National Training Centre at the finish.

Leixlip Bridge

Upper put-in for longer days. Parking on the south side.

Sluice Weir ★

Main put-on. DKC home base. Most sessions start here.

Lucan Weir

A small drop with a play wave at lower flows. In high water it becomes very retentive and dangerous.

Shackleton's Weir

Scenic weir with a gradual V-shaped lead-in down the drop.

Wren's Nest

The largest weir on the Liffey. A V weir with a large stopper that becomes extremely retentive in higher water. Approached with respect, walked around when in doubt.
